Astrid Koenig brings over 48 years of experience in the community living field, working with children, youth, and adults across both Alberta and British Columbia. Throughout her extensive career, she has gained comprehensive experience in all areas of community living, progressing from frontline roles to senior leadership positions within both for-profit and nonprofit organizations. She also has 12 years of experience as a foster parent and later as a home share provider for two First Nations individuals with diverse abilities in Alberta.

Astrid currently serves as the Director of Building Bridges Community Support on Vancouver Island. The organization provides a wide range of services, including community inclusion, outreach, respite, employment support, skill development, child and youth services for individuals with autism, and home share coordination. Although she holds a leadership role, her greatest passion remains direct support and frontline engagement.

In addition to her professional experience, Astrid has dedicated time to volunteering on non-profit and community boards, advocating for meaningful inclusion and ensuring that individuals with diverse abilities have the opportunity to fully participate in their communities.
