About the Individuals
This reverse home sharing arrangement involves supporting two individuals.
Individual A likes puzzles, walks, being part of the social activities in the home. Her parents are elderly and her sister is involved in decision making for her. She attends the day program 5 days per week from 8:30am – 3pm. This individual is funded on a GSA level 5C.
Individual B is moderately independent at home and in the wider community. She currently has a part time job – for a few hours per week. She commutes to work on her own by bus. Her parents are elderly and continue to be her main representatives. She attends the day program 5 days per week from 8:30am – 3pm, expect on her work day.

Key Responsibilities
Individual A
- This individual requires 24/7 support
- Supporting communication and recognizing non-verbal cues
- Supervising and supporting her during meals
- Extended personal care support, including bathing and assistance with dressing
- Supporting mobility during community outings. She is generally mobile but uses a wheelchair for longer trips.
Individual B
- Supporting day-to-day decision-making, including food, clothing, relationships, personal care, spending/shopping etc.
- Arranging transportation to and from the Tsawwassen ferry terminal when she visits family on Vancouver Island
Qualifications and Experience
Individual A
- Experience providing personal care
- Experience supporting individuals with complex behaviours
- Ability to understand and respond to non-verbal communication
Individual B
- Patience and clear communication
- Ability to listen and discuss concerns respectfully
- Ability to provide practical guidance while supporting the individual’s choices
- Ability to maintain positive, respectful, and consistent boundaries
- Experience building trusting and supportive relationships
Requirements
- Minimum of 19 years of age
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Satisfactory home study
- Satisfactory criminal record check
- First aid / CPR certificate
- Driver’s License
- Satisfactory health confirmed by doctor
Reverse Home Sharing Living Cost
This is a reverse home sharing arrangement. The home sharing provider will be required to rent the house through the community living agency and will be responsible for paying the rent and utilities.
The monthly rent is $4,400. Each individual contributes $500 per month, for a combined contribution of $1,000. The home sharing provider is responsible for the remaining $3,400 per month, plus utilities.
The home includes:
- Five bedrooms, including one bedroom for each individual
- A kitchen with a breakfast nook
- An open-concept living and dining area
- A separate sitting room
- A small office
The house is located in the Central Lonsdale area of North Vancouver, approximately two blocks from Lonsdale Avenue.
